7 things to do when you visit Tucson AZ

1. Go Hiking

Go for a hike! Ever heard of Romero Pools? Google it, map it, and go hike to it!

In the Summer go early in the morning, like 6 am early, and bring SO MUCH water that you think you have too much, because chances are it's gonna be barely enough. In the winter go anytime before 4pm to make sure you have enough light to hike back down.

2. Explore a Wash

Not one for hikes but still want to experience what an AZ desert has to offer? No worries, head out to the nearest wash! For out of towners, a wash is an area of sand and desert designated for water to run through. You may be thinking, "what water?" great question. Water is scarce most of the year, but come monsoon season, there is so much rain that these washes become fast flowing rivers within minutes. We call those flash floods, and a wash is the last place you want to be during one of those. I may or may not be speaking from experience...

3. Shoot Hoops

Don't like cactus, snakes, and other critters? Go to a school or a park and shoot some hoops! Lucky for us Arizonans, we have an abundance of sunshine and great weather. If it's not over 100 degrees outside, grab a ball and some friends and play some sports!

4. See a Movie

Want to avoid the outdoors all together and sit in cool air conditioning? See a movie! But not at your average movie theater, head out to RoadHouse Cinemas (4811 E Grant Rd #150, Tucson AZ 85712) and order food and drinks throughout the entire show! The super comfortable leather seats recline WITH a foot rest. Oh, and tickets are only $10 just be sure to get your tickets online a day before you wanna go, to make sure you grab good seats!

5. Explore Downtown

Go downtown! Visit the shops and restaurants down on Tucson's famous Congress Street. From Hotel Congress' delicious breakfast spot, the Cup Cafe, to their lively night life and bar, to countless other restaurants, bars, and coffee shops lining the street. Also, every second Saturday of the month, Tucson throws a "2nd Saturday" event, where the streets are lined with food vendors, and shops have their doors open, there is live music and shows. Bottom line is, Tucson's downtown is small, but worth exploring. 

6. Go to the University

Visit the University of Arizona! The U of A is nestled in a cozy area of Tucson full of culture, art, and old brick buildings. University Ave has food, drinks, coffee, and people. While you're down there, catch a game and Bear Down!

7. Catch a Gas Light Theater Show!
